September 2012

The UAB baseball team was honored and introduced at the first home UAB football game on Sept. 1st. On the big screen for all the fans to see, were the highlights of the C-USA Championship Baseball game from May 27Th. We have a wonderful bunch of young men of whom we are very proud.
Then on the evening of Labor Day, our Emily & Joshua came for a three day visit!!!!  Joshua's grandparents in Mississippi, had celebrated their 50Th ann. that weekend. So our kids had traveled with Joshua's folks from Kansas City, then borrowed Granddaddy's truck and came on to Birmingham!!!  We had not expected to see them until Christmas. We also celebrated Emily's 24Th birthday while they were here.

August 2012

Every August we host the baseball team for a meal at our home. This year we had a friend come in and do chicken & veggies on a stick. Yummy. Our dog, Harris, thought so too and stole one from someone. However we didn't learn the whole story until a week or so later!!!!  Harris didn't feel well that week and into the next. Then suddenly he developed a lump the size of a baseball on his left side. The next morning it was even bigger. We took him to the Vet and was told it was either a bug bite or a fast growing tumor.  Realizing this could be the end of our time with Harris we were very concerned. Amazingly it was neither!!!  God protected our dog. Apparently Harris had swallowed the six inch stick and it passed through his lung lobes, never going to the stomach nor damaging anything. His body was trying to push it out his side, thus the huge lump. The veterinary said it was one for the books. He'd never seen anything like it.  Now Harris is healed up and doing great! Thank you, Lord.
Jesse has also been playing Fall League

2012 Summer

The twins got their Driver's Licenses and turned 17 in July.  After their Youth trip to TN all the youth kids loved being together ALOT!!!! They often hang out at our house (which is a good thing).  We got away to Atlanta, GA for a Braves game.

August trip to Ohio

At the beginning of August we were able to go up to Van Wert, Ohio, and see the family. It was a great time of catching up and laughing. We even slipped over to Lima and caught the Lima Locos baseball game, where three of our UAB players were playing. Hanging out with the family was awesome!
